Dear music fans, colleagues, guests of our city,
I would like to kindly inform you that Alexander Spendiaryan Opera and Ballet National Academic Theatre Support Foundation from June 25 to June 30 organizes A. Arutunian International Wind Instruments Festival.
Composer Alexander Arutunian during his career left large heritage of various works for wind instruments, but most of them still haven't been performed. That's why we have decided to name the Festival after him and pay a tribute to the memory of famous composer. There will be premiers within the frames of the first Festival, and already next year the Festival will be attended by world famous trumpet player Arturo Sandoval, who will perform Alexander Arutunian's Trumpet Concerto. A. Arutunian International Wind Instruments Festival will be continuous, each year bringing into Armenia many famous musicians.
This year the Festival will be held together with the Armenian State Chamber Orchestra headed by Vahan Mardirossian, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Orchestra, music devotee and my colleague.
This year musicians from Armenia, Russia, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, France, Slovenia, Poland, Portugal, Belgium, Serbia, Japan, Puerto Rico will take part in the Festival.
It aims at creating large opportunities for wind musicians, ensuring professional contact with local and foreign colleagues.
The first International Wind Instruments Festival in Armenia aims at:
- - Developing wind musical school in Armenia, performing skills of the musicians,
- - uniting both Armenian and foreign professional wind musicians of different musicals schools of Armenia and abroad,

Dear music lovers,
I highly appreciate and welcome the start of an unprecedented Alexander Arutiunian International Wind Festival.
Definitely, the musical heritage of Alexander Arutiunian is huge for our posterity. We should evaluate and make known the national music heritage Alexander Arutiunian left, particularly for wind instruments.

Dear colleagues, music lovers,
For years Opera and Ballet National Academic Theatre Support Foundation initiates and implements numerous concert projects both in Yerevan and in different provinces of Armenia aiming at activating your communication with classical music and spiritual values. A. Arutiunian International Wind Festival is not an exception. It is the first wind music festival in Armenia in its format which will unite both Armenian and foreign musicians around Armenian music and melody. We are more than confident that it will be continuous involving wide range of musicians from different parts of the world. Through this Festival we want to address our words of gratitude and respect to eminent composer Alexander Arutunian, giving new spirit and colors to his famous and still unknown works.
We wish you interesting and unforgettable musical experience.
Pianist, Alexander Arutunian's daughter
Arutiunian made a significant impact on the music for winds in the 20th century. He is one of the very few composers in the world who wrote 9 concertos for wind instruments including the famous Concerto for Trumpet as well as trio, quartets, quintets and marches for winds.
The idea of the Festival is not just the performance of the world repertoire for winds but also interaction and exchange of ideas between musicians. The Festival will grow and attract all genres of this art.
From ancient times Armenian wind instruments became a part of the cultural inheritance, thus, the festival is a symbolic celebration of the development of this art.
